The Vietnam Expressway Corporation (VEC) reported that 59.7 million vehicles used expressways it had invested in and managed during 2023, a year-on-year increase of 12 per cent.

These expressways include Noi Bai - Lao Cai, Cau Gie - Ninh Binh, Da Nang - Quang Ngai, and Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay.

The highest growth was seen in the Noi Bai - Lao Cai Expressway in Vietnam’s north, with 17.5 per cent, while the number of vehicles using the expressway ranked it only third, with 16 million.

The Cau Gie - Ninh Binh Expressway in the country’s north had the highest number of vehicles, with 21 million, representing a year-on-year rise of 7.1 per cent.

The VEC has recently proposed expanding the Cau Gie - Ninh Binh Expressway to six lanes to curb traffic congestion, particularly during holidays.

The Corporation posted revenue of over VND5.6 trillion ($23.3 million) in 2023.

In order to continue developing the expressway network, the VEC has been assigned to complete and put into operation the Ben Luc - Long Thanh Expressway in the country’s south in the third quarter of 2025.
