Vietnam Airlines plans to restore flights on seven domestic routes from October 10 with a modest number of flights to begin with, according to a representative from the national flag carrier.

It will reopen two-way flights between Ho Chi Minh City and Hue, with a frequency of one flight per week, and one-way flights from Vinh city to Ho Chi Minh City with a frequency of two flights per week. Pacific Airlines, a member of the Vietnam Airlines Group, also plans to restore domestic flights in the near future. Both are readying to reopen two-way flights between Ho Chi Minh City and Thanh Hoa, Nha Trang, Tuy Hoa, Quy Nhon, and Phu Quoc Island, with a frequency of one flight per day.

On the remaining routes, Vietnam Airlines and Pacific Airlines will continue to follow directions from authorities, on the basis of consensus with localities, to develop flight schedules. The two will announce plans to operate routes as well as open ticket sales through websites, mobile apps, official agents, and ticket offices as soon as they receive approval from relevant authorities and localities.

In order to ensure pandemic prevention and control at airports and on flights, they will apply measures such as checking passenger body temperatures, implementing medical declarations for passengers, and regularly disinfecting aircraft and ground equipment.

Previously, in early October, the Civil Aviation Administration of Vietnam (CAAV) proposed reopening flight routes to and from 20 cities and provinces, for a total of 385 round-trip flights a day.
