Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Minister-President of the Government of the Belgian region of Flanders, Jan Jambon, met in Hanoi on September 12 and agreed to strengthen bilateral cooperation in sustainable agriculture and the construction and dredging of navigation routes, according to the Government News.
Prime Minister Chinh proposed that Mr. Jambon continue paying due regard to the development of ties with Vietnam, especially in economy, trade, and investment.
He suggested that Flanders continue to open its markets to Vietnamese exports, encourage its businesses to invest in Vietnam, and maintain its assistance to Vietnam in training human resources for the agriculture, transport, and seaport logistics sectors.
Mr. Jambon said that Flanders consistently views Vietnam as a priority partner in Southeast Asia and will boost its effective and practical cooperation in all the fields where it holds strengths, particularly in transport, seaport logistics, high technology, renewable energy, smart agriculture, and digital transformation.
He affirmed his support for trade liberalization and for Vietnam’s reinforcement of comprehensive ties with the EU.
