Vietnam and China have agreed to spend 2 extra hours at work for customs clearance at Huu Nghi and Tan Thanh international border gates which links Vietnam’s northern Lang Son province with China.

Accordingly, functional forces of the two sides will work until 8pm every day.

The move is aimed at meeting increasing demand for trading activities between the two countries through the border gates.

The number of vehicles carrying goods through customs clearance at Huu Nghi Border Gate has surged to 300 a day since April this year, according to Phung Van Ba, Deputy Director of Huu Nghi Customs Branch.

Meanwhile, customs officials at Tan Thanh Customs Branch carry out customs clearance services for some 200 vehicles per day on average and 300 vehicles during peak periods.

Total import and export revenue through border gates in Lang Son province reached over $22 billion this year, as of May 15, a year-on-year rise of 29%.
