Vietnam and China have agreed to prioritize cooperation in the digital economy and green development. These areas are seen as key drivers for future growth in both countries, the Government News reported.

The agreement was reached between Minister of Trade and Industry Nguyen Hong Dien and Chinese Minister of Commerce Wang Wentao at the 13th session of the Vietnam-China Economic and Trade Cooperation Committee held in China on September 29.

Mr. Wentao proposed several initiatives, including negotiating a trade agreement for agricultural products, finalizing a quarantine protocol for Vietnamese fruits, and boosting e-commerce.

In response, Mr. Dien highlighted Vietnam's efforts to promote electric vehicle development through favorable policies and tax incentives. He also mentioned that Vietnam is developing a comprehensive strategy for automobile industry development, focusing on electric and green energy vehicles.

Regarding industrial parks, the Vietnamese minister expressed support for closer cooperation to enhance connectivity and complementarity between the two countries. He also called for improved border gate infrastructure and smoother trade processes to accommodate the increasing flow of people, goods, and vehicles.

He urged China to open its market for more Vietnamese agricultural products, such as citrus fruits, avocado, custard apple, wax apple, and black cardamom. He also requested the Chinese Ministry of Commerce to remove Vietnamese rock lobster from the list of banned wildlife.
