Vietnam climbs to record 50th in Global Startup Ecosystem Rankings

Vietnam has climbed five places to rank 50th in the 2026 Global Startup Ecosystem Index published by  StartupBlink, marking the country’s highest-ever position in the annual global rankings.

Vietnam’s innovation startup ecosystem continues to improve significantly in both ranking and growth rate, the Government News quoted StartupBlink's report  as reporting on May 21.

StartupBlink noted that the group of countries ranked from 21st to 50th is the most dynamic segment of the global rankings, with development speeds significantly higher than those of the leading group. Among them, Vietnam and Thailand were identified as the two countries with the most remarkable growth pace in the region.

Ho Chi Minh City - Vietnam's largest economic engine, also entered the world's top 100 startup ecosystems for the first time, up by 12 places, reaching 98th in the world. The Southern city is currently leading Southeast Asia in the maturity of its startup ecosystem, standing out in the fields of Fintech and Blockchain, ranking 60th and 70th globally, respectively.

The Global Startup Ecosystem Index is an annual ranking published by StartupBlink since 2017, which evaluates national and city-level startup ecosystems worldwide based on multiple criteria, including activity scale, ecosystem quality, and business environment. Its 2026 report covers more than 1,500 cities across 120 countries worldwide.

Vietnam's innovation startup ecosystem currently has around 4,000 startups, 208 investment funds, 84 incubators, and more than 20 national and local startup support centers.
