Vietnam and India have many new opportunities in economic and trade relations, particularly in agriculture, according to the Indian Ambassador to Vietnam.
Agricultural products account for 35 per cent of bilateral trade revenue between the two countries, he told the India-Vietnam Business Meeting held recently in Hanoi.
The gathering was part of activities held for a delegation of Indian businesses during their visit to Vietnam seeking investment and business opportunities.
India mainly exports beef, animal feed materials, food, vegetables, and seafood to Vietnam and there is still much to do to exploit the huge potential in the Vietnamese market, he said.
He added that the two governments are discussing putting forward measures to promote bilateral trade in the field of agriculture.
The meeting was an initiative to strengthen economic ties between India and Vietnam. Representatives from various Indian and Vietnamese companies, government officials, and industry experts were in attendance, discussing opportunities and challenges in the agriculture sector, exploring partnerships, and sharing knowledge and experience.
With a population of over 1.4 billion, India has potential for consuming Vietnamese agricultural products such as fruit, coffee, pepper, cashew nuts, rubber, and seafood.
