Laos is currently Vietnam’s largest investment destination, with 238 projects and $5.34 billion in capital.
The figures were revealed at the Vietnam-Laos Trade and Investment Forum held in Ho Chi Minh City on December 13.
Vietnamese investments are in all regions of its neighbor and in a variety of sectors, such as banking and finance, telecoms, services, agriculture, and forestry.
Many projects have been completed and proved effective in creating jobs and contributing to the development of the two countries, including those from Viettel, the HAGL Group, and Petrolimex.
The two countries discussed solutions to promote trade, investment, and tourism during the forum, while Vietnamese companies and Lao localities and businesses signed 17 MoUs on investment and other economic exchanges.
