Vietnamese and Italian leaders have agreed to continue effectively implementing the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EUVFTA) to raise annual two-way trade to $7 billion.
According to a report from the Government News, during their meeting in Rome on July 26, visiting State President Vo Van Thuong and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni discussed measures to enhance the strategic partnership between the two countries.
They agreed to boost cooperation in fields such as education and training and science and technology.
President Thuong said Vietnam is ready to cooperate with Italy to boost partnerships in such fields as green transition, digital economy, and sustainable and inclusive prosperity.
The Italian leader pledged to help Vietnam in terms of finance, technology, and human resources training to cope with climate change.
She also welcomed Vietnam’s proposal on the establishment of a trilateral framework on agriculture between Vietnam, Italy, and a third country to help deal with the global food security issue.
