During his official visit to Mongolia, National Assembly President Tran Thanh Man held talks with Chairman of the Mongolian Parliament Sandag Byambatsogt on September 10, immediately after the official welcoming ceremony.
At the talks, the two sides agreed to maintain regular high-level and multi-level exchanges and delegation visits, while continuing to effectively implement existing cooperation mechanisms as well as commitments and agreements reached by the leaders of the two countries, including the Joint Statement on the establishment of the Vietnam-Mongolia Comprehensive Partnership.
They agreed to strengthen defense, security and judicial cooperation, closely coordinate in combating transnational crimes, and effectively respond to non-traditional security challenges.
The two sides also agreed to enhance the role of the legislative bodies of the two countries in coordinating efforts to promote substantive and effective economic connectivity, commensurate with the potential of both countries.
They agreed to actively consider further opening their respective markets to each other’s products, particularly facilitating the entry of Vietnam’s key agricultural, fisheries and seafood products into the Mongolian market, with a view to achieving the target of raising bilateral trade turnover to $200 million at an early date.
The two sides also agreed to step up investment promotion activities and work toward the early signing of a new Agreement on the Promotion and Protection of Investments between Vietnam and Mongolia.
The two leaders noted that the two countries still have significant potential and room for development, not only in economic, trade and investment cooperation, but also in such areas as culture, sports, tourism, education and training, and people-to-people exchanges.
