Vietnam’s European Plastics Joint Stock Company (EuP) opened its first factory in Egypt on January 15 in Sadat, Menoufia province. EuP’s newest facility - located inside the CPC Sadat Industrial Park - marks the first time a Vietnamese enterprise has opened a factory in the country.

Speaking at the opening ceremony on January 15, Mr. Hoang Quoc Huy, Chairman of the Board of Directors at EuP, said the project is an important step in the company’s expansion strategy. “Along with creating jobs and contributing to the development of the community, the factory will also serve as a symbol of cooperation between Vietnam and Egypt,” he said.

Built on an area of more than 34,000 sq m with total investment of $30 million, the factory will focus on producing filler masterbatch (a plastic filler) along with other signature EuP products such as color masterbatch, plastic additive, bio filler, and bioplastic compound. It is designed with 24 production lines using German technology and can reach a total annual capacity of 300,000 tonnes, creating 300 jobs.

Products will meet demand not only in the Egyptian and Middle Eastern markets but will also eventually be exported to Europe and the Americas.

The factory is operated by EuP Egypt Industries, a subsidiary fully-funded by the Vietnamese parent and founded in Egypt in August 2022. Beside opening the new production facility, the company will also explore other business opportunities in the Egyptian market.

Hossam Heiba, President of Egypt’s General Authority of Free Zones & Investment (GAFI), highlighted the significance of the factory as the first project from a Vietnamese enterprise in Egypt, saying it reflects the Egyptian Government’s efforts to attract foreign investors. He also expressed a desire for more foreign businesses, including those from Vietnam, to invest in the country.
