FPT IS and Indonesian tech company PT Metrodata Electronics have signed an MoU on cooperation to jointly become providers of digital transformation solutions and services in the Indonesian market over the next five years.

The cooperation focuses on developing and providing digital transformation solutions based on leading technologies such as cloud computing, data, and AI. It aims to develop the market for suitable tech applications and solutions in Indonesia to accelerate digital and green transformation; promote educational initiatives to grow expertise, especially in data science, machine learning, and AI programming; establish a robust AI infrastructure, including cloud and GPU technology; and create advanced machine learning models and AI applications.

FPT IS and Metrodata commit to providing maximum resources and expertise to effectively invest in and support the joint venture, with the goal of becoming a leading digital transformation solution provider in Indonesia within the next five years.

Speaking at the signing, Mr. Susanto Djaja, CEO of Metrodata, said it marks a significant milestone. “Through this cooperation, we will focus on promoting technology applications, digital transformation, and especially the effectiveness of AI application, accelerating the pace of achieving the ‘Vision of Indonesia 2045’” he said. “This strategic action aligns with our commitment to turning technology into a growth driver - a guiding light for the sustainable development of Indonesia’s digital economy.”

“We can clearly see that Indonesia’s digital economy has many opportunities and prospects, with a forecast of $1.5 trillion, or 14 per cent of GDP,” he went on. “Notably, cloud infrastructure and AI-related business activities are predicted to double in growth every five years. Indonesia’s digital competitiveness has significantly improved in recent years due to stable investment inflows and rapid technology adoption, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic. This is key to accelerating economic recovery and presents an opportunity for tech companies like FPT IS and Metrodata to contribute.”

Mr. Tran Dang Hoa, Chairman of FPT IS, affirmed that the cooperation will be an important platform for both parties to leverage their internal potential, develop world-class tech products and services, and create a competitive growth advantage for their businesses. “FPT IS has been accompanying Vietnam’s economic development and the region for 30 years through critical projects and backbone systems in key areas,” he said. “This is the foundation for us to continue inheriting and synergizing the research and development capabilities of the ‘Made by FPT’ product and service ecosystem based on core technologies like AI, data, cloud, and blockchain, thereby accompanying Metrodata to bring competitive products to the international market.”

Mr. Truong Gia Binh, Chairman of FPT Corporation, and Mr. Djaja participated in a high-level dialogue during the visit by Indonesian President Joko Widodo to Vietnam from January 11-13, where the President suggested that major Vietnamese enterprises like FPT invest more in Indonesia, especially in the tech sector.

The cooperation between FPT IS and Metrodata, two leading tech entities in the two countries, affirms the role of businesses in the joint mission with the government of enhancing the effectiveness of digital and green transformation, contributing to effective and long-term cooperation between the two countries.
