Vietnam posts trade surplus exceeding $100bln with Americas

Vietnam has posted a trade surplus with the Americas of more than $100 billion for the first time, according to the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

Despite the complexities of the international situation in 2022, marked by an energy crisis, rising inflation, tightened monetary policy, and higher interest rates in many countries, trade exchange between Vietnam and the European-American market still grew strongly.

Vietnam’s trade surplus with markets in the Americas reached over $102 billion.

Trade turnover totaled $153.9 billion, a year-on-year increase of 10.7 per cent. Vietnam’s export revenue was $128.2 billion, up 12.4 per cent.

Trade between Vietnam and many major markets in the region saw stable growth, such as to the US, up 11 per cent, Brazil 6.6 per cent, Canada 16.5 per cent, Mexico 7.1 per cent, Chile 9 per cent, and Argentina 8.3 per cent.
