Under Prime Ministerial Decision No. 2229/QD-TTg, signed recently by Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son, Vietnam's National Logistics Development Strategy for the period 2025-2035, with a vision to 2050, has been approved, aiming to establish Vietnam as a logistics hub in Southeast Asia by 2035.
The strategy not only seeks to enhance national competitiveness but also affirms logistics as a crucial economic sector with high added value, serving as a driving force for socio-economic development.
Under the strategy, Vietnam aims to expand its logistics services sector by 12-15% annually over the next decade, while cutting logistics costs to 12-15% of GDP and building 5-10 international-standard logistics hubs.
The strategy also targets lifting the industry’s value-added share to 5-7% of GDP and pushing Vietnam’s Logistics Performance Index (LPI) ranking into top 40 globally. Under the strategy, at least five modern logistics centers meeting international standards will be developed.
By 2050, the sector is projected to contribute 7-9% of GDP, with logistics costs lowered to 10-12% of GDP and the LPI ranking entering the world’s top 30, backed by 10 state-of-the-art hubs.
