Vietnam to establish data market

Phan Anh -

Deputy PM approves national data strategy.

Vietnam is to build a master plan on establishing a data market and piloting data transaction floors as part of its national data strategy to 2030 approved by Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang.

Models on data brokerage and a data services market will be developed under the strategy.

The strategy notes that data will open up new operations and development space for the digital government, the digital economy, and the digital society.

Data will help boost national competitiveness, ensure the success of Vietnam’s digital transformation process, and develop the country into a safe digital nation. It will also contribute to restructuring the economy to develop Vietnam into a country with high middle-incomes by 2030, according to the strategy.

Vietnam aims to handle all administrative procedures online by 2030.

The strategy sets a target of having all national data centers, regional data centers, and national centers for large data storage and high performance computing across the country connecting successfully.

Vietnam also aims to digitalize all national databases, acting as a foundation for the development of e-government and connecting with general data at the National Data Center and nationwide.

Digitalization will be promoted in land data, tracing the origin of “One commune, One product” (OCOP) goods sold on online platforms, logistics, and electricity consumption.
