The two-way trade turnover between Vietnam and the US reached $38.6 billion in the first four months of 2024, thus keeping the US in its position as the largest export market of Vietnam, according to Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai, the Government News has reported.

During phone talks with US Secretary of the Treasury Janet Yellen on June 5, Deputy PM Khai stressed that the economic and trade relations between Vietnam and the US kept positive growth after the two countries upgraded bilateral ties to the comprehensive strategic partnership.

The new partnership framework has expanded opportunities for cooperation in areas such as cybersecurity and emerging technologies, transfer of core technologies, strengthening supply chains to develop the semiconductor and electronics industry ecosystem, and addressing war consequences, he said.

Mrs. Yellen noted that the cooperation between the two countries has been expanded and deepened and expressed her hope that the two sides would discuss solutions to enhance the cooperation efficiency between the two economies.

During the talks, they engaged in open discussions on bilateral collaboration in finance, banking, energy transition, and macroeconomic management.
