Vietnamese businesses step up ESG commitments: PwC survey

Nearly 89% of 174 surveyed businesses in Vietnam have made or plan to make environmental, social and governance (ESG) commitments within the next two to four years, up sharply from 80% in 2022, according to the ESG Progress Tracker Survey Report 2025 released by PwC Vietnam.

Of these, 54% have already implemented ESG initiatives, 13% are planning but not yet acting, and 22% are in the early stages of execution. The proportion of companies with no ESG plans has almost halved since 2022, dropping to just 11%.

Foreign-invested enterprises continue to lead the way, with 71% having put commitments into practice, largely driven by global standards.

PwC noted that the findings mark a clear shift in Vietnam, as businesses move beyond pledges to actively integrating ESG practices into their operations.
