Vietnam’s forestry export revenue in 2024 is estimated at $17.3 billion, marking a year-on-year increase of 19.4%, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development’s Department of Forestry.
Export of wood and wood products contributed some $16.3 billion.
In December alone, export of wood and wood products is expected at $1.55 billion, up 15.8% compared to the same period last year.
The US remained the largest export market of Vietnamese wood and wood products, accounting for over 55% of the total export value.
Other key markets include the EU, Japan and the Republic of Korea.
Localities nationwide planted over 270,000 ha of concentrated forests in 2024, up 2.4% year-on-year. Forest exploitation was estimated at 22.7 million cu m, 7.9% higher than that of the same period last year.
The sector set a target of earning $18 billion from forestry export in 2025.
