Vietnam exported 190,153 tons of pepper in the first eight months of 2026, up 14.2% from the same period last year, according to the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association (VPSA).
Asia remained the largest market, accounting for 88,441 tons, or 46.5% of the total exports. The Americas ranked second with 49,830 tons, equivalent to 26.2%, followed by Europe with 40,892 tons, or 21.5%. Africa accounted for nearly 11,000 tons.
The United States continued to be the largest buyer of Vietnamese pepper, purchasing 44,349 tons during the eight-month period. China ranked second with 20,495 tons, a sharp increase from 13,282 tons recorded in the same period of 2025.
Other major markets included the United Arab Emirates, India, Thailand, Germany, the Netherlands, the Philippines, Egypt and Hong Kong (China).
Speaking at a recent workshop launching the Agricultural Commodity Forum in Lam Dong province, VPSA Chairwoman Hoang Thi Lien said Vietnam’s pepper production has remained relatively stable at an average of 175,000–180,000 tons a year.
Annual exports have reached around 230,000–250,000 tons, while imports range between 20,000 and 25,000 tons a year, mainly to support processing and re-export activities.
Vietnamese pepper products are now available in more than 120 countries and territories worldwide, reinforcing the country’s position as a major global pepper supplier.
