Visitors to Hoi An ancient town in central Quang Nam province will be required to purchase entry tickets from May 15.
Tickets are VND80,000 ($3.40) daily for domestic visitors and VND120,000 ($5.10) for foreigners.
The ancient town also issue tickets for longer stays.
Revenue from ticket sales will be used to preserve and manage the ancient town, which has been recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, and to upgrade infrastructure and organize tourism events, according to Chairman of the Hoi An People’s Committee Nguyen Van Son.
Part of the revenue is also used to support old house owners with repairs after storms and flooding.
Entry tickets were introduced in 1995 but suspended during Covid and only re-introduced in 2022, with a 50 per cent discount.
