Vietnam’s seafood export revenue in the first eleven months of this year hit $8.27 billion, down 19 per cent year-on-year, according to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP).
In November alone, seafood exports earned nearly $840 million, up 6 per cent compared to the same period last year.
Exports of many key products increased in the month, including shrimp, by 4 per cent year-on-year, tuna 26 per cent, and tra fish 12 per cent.
Figures from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development show that total fishery production in November was estimated at 836,300 tons, a year-on-year rise of 3.2 per cent. This brought total production in the first eleven months to over 8.4 million tons, up 2.2 per cent year-on-year.
VASEP forecasts that seafood export value for the year as a whole will come in at $9 billion, down 18 per cent year-on-year.
