The 13th Party Central Committee convened its 10th plenum in Hanoi on September 18, chaired by Party General Secretary and State President To Lam, the Vietnam News Agency has reported.

Before the meeting began, participants observed a moment of silence to honor those lost in Typhoon Yagi and its aftermath.

They also pledged financial support to the affected regions.

In his opening remarks, Party General Secretary To Lam emphasized the significance of the session, noting the recent passing of Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and the devastation caused by the typhoon. He stated that the plenum would focus on ten strategic matters and several specific issues.

Regarding the upcoming 14th National Party Congress, the Party leader called on committee members to contribute their best efforts and demonstrate a strong sense of responsibility as the country enters a new era of national advancement.

He stressed that the successful implementation of the 13th National Party Congress' Resolution is paramount for achieving the strategic goals set for the centennial of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) (February 3, 1930 - 2030), towards 100 years since the establishment of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - 2045).

To achieve these goals, he urged the Party to exhibit the highest determination, exert maximum effort, and take decisive action with effective solutions. He emphasized that this is a crucial responsibility for the Party, not only to the people and history but also to international friends. It presents an opportunity for the Party to prove its leadership, governance capacity, and combat capabilities.

The Party leader highlighted the importance of maximizing resources and measures to accomplish these objectives. He announced that the 2025 socio-economic development plan, outlining key targets, tasks, and solutions, would be discussed during the plenum.

For the 14th National Party Congress, he emphasized the significance of the political report, the review of the 40 years of Doi Moi (Renewal), the socio-economic development report, and the Party building and Party Charter implementation report. He also called on the committee to analyze strategic breakthroughs, orientations, and solutions for the next tenure.

Personnel preparation for the 14th Congress was identified as a crucial task for implementing the Party's policies and guidelines and guiding the nation into a new era. He expressed confidence in the committee's ability to effectively carry out this work.

Regarding Party building and Party Charter implementation, the Party General Secretary urged the committee to evaluate its achievements and limitations while proposing improvements for the 14th tenure.
