$163mln prioritized for transport projects in Ha Giang province

The Ministry of Transport (MoT) has said it will prioritize allocating VND3.9 trillion ($163 million) to implement three transport projects in northern mountainous Ha Giang province.

They include the construction of an expressway connecting the Hanoi - Lao Cai Expressway with Ha Giang, an expressway linking Ha Giang with neighboring Tuyen Quang province, and a section of National Highway No. 279.

Regarding upgrades to National Highway No. 4D, which are of concern to voters, the ministry said this forms part of the national road network planning for the 2021-2030 period under a Decision from the Prime Minister. The highway is designed to have a total length of 122 km with 2-4 lanes.

However, due to limited mid-term public investment during the 2021-2025 period, MoT has yet to be able to allocate capital to continue upgrading the highway.

It said it will coordinate with local authorities to mobilize different sources to complete the upgrades shortly.
