$29.6 mln invested in upgrading road in Mekong Delta

The 51.5-km Lo Te – Rach Soi road connecting Can Tho city and Kien Giang province.

The Ministry of Transport has approved a project upgrading the Lo Te – Rach Soi road in the Mekong Delta with an estimated investment capital of VND750 billion ($29.6 million), according to the My Thuan Project Management Board.

The 51.5-km Lo Te – Rach Soi road (first phase) connects Can Tho city and Kien Giang province. It has four lanes with a roadbed width of 17m, allowing a maximum speed of 100 kph.

The road was put into operation in January, 2021. Total investment capital was estimated at over VND6.35 trillion ($251 million).

The road has helped to shorten travelling time between the two localities by 80 minutes, contributing to promoting socio-economic development and transport connection in the region.

The upgrade is expected for completion before December 31, 2025.
