Taiwan-based Lite-On Technology Corporation, one of the global firms in optoelectronics and power management solutions, is set to launch the first phase of its $690 million project in northern Quang Ninh province in the first quarter of 2025.
The project will span 30 hectares in Song Khoai Industrial Park, Quang Yen Town. The investor has already received the allocated land and is currently finalizing the necessary administrative procedures.
The project's product range includes computer components, cameras, wireless networking devices, power converters, electric vehicle chargers, automotive lighting, plastic products, and various other electronic devices.
As planned, phase I of the project will begin production in November 2025, with an annual capacity exceeding 64 million products. By 2028, phase II will be operational, raising annual production capacity to over 95 million products. By 2030, the project is expected to be fully completed, achieving a total annual capacity of nearly 124 million products.
In order to facilitate the smooth operation of the project, Lite-On Technology has proposed that Quang Ninh province support research and implementation of a housing project accommodating workers and experts.
In response, Mr. Vu Dai Thang, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Quang Ninh Provincial Party Committee, stated that the province aims to transition energy usage in manufacturing facilities towards renewable energy sources. Therefore, provincial leaders encouraged the investor to consider installing rooftop solar power systems during the construction of the factories.
Mr. Thang expressed confidence that with maximum support from local authorities, Quang Ninh will become a successful investment destination for Lite-On Technology. He also hopes the company will achieve its goal of making Quang Ninh one of its key manufacturing hubs in the Asian region.
Earlier, Lite-On Technology had invested in Quang Ninh's neighboring port city of Hai Phong, with a project worth $96 million.
