The Vietnam Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Agribank), one of four State-owned commercial banks that are permitted to sold SJC-branded gold bars to the public, has enabled registrations for gold purchase on its website from June 17.

Accordingly, the bank will  only sell gold bars to those successfully registering on its website. 

Buyers can register on the bank’s website between 9am and 3pm from Monday to Friday.

Eligible buyers will make payment and receive the gold bars at designated sites of the Agribank from 1.30pm to 4pm of the same day that they successfully register.

Meanwhile, the Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam (Vietcombank) has applied this way of gold trading since June 12.

The move came after the banks directly sold SJC gold bars to people and recorded crowds at their designated sites.

Agribank, Vietcombank, Vietinbank and BIDV, along with the State-owned Saigon Jewelry Company Limited (SJC) were permitted to purchase SJC-branded gold bars from the State Bank of Vietnam and sell to the public from June 3.

 This aims to improve gold market stability.
