Agricultural production posted positive results in January, ensuring food supply for both domestic consumption and exports, according to the General Statistics Office.
Total fisheries production was estimated at 590,100 tons, a year-on-year rise of 3.1 per cent. This included 440,200 tons of fish, 54,600 tons of shrimp, and 95,300 tons of other seafood.
Regarding rice cultivation, as of January 15, the whole country had grown over 1.8 million ha of rice, equivalent to 96.9 per cent of the same period last year.
Some 7,800 ha of forest were planted, down 4.3 per cent year-on-year.
Vietnam earned $5.14 billion from agriculture, forestry and fisheries exports in January, a 79.2 per cent increase compared to the same period last year, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
