Vietnam’s agricultural sector has set a target of posting turnover from agriculture, forestry, and fisheries exports of $70 billion and attracting $25 billion worth of FDI by 2030 under its international agricultural cooperation strategy.
The strategy was revealed at a conference held recently by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development on international cooperation in agriculture.
The sector targets taking the lead in at least one regional or global initiative and transferring a new technology or new production model each year.
Some 500 officials, students, and interns in the field of agriculture undertake training abroad every year.
Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Minh Hoan emphasized at the conference the increasingly important role of international cooperation in the context of globalization and integration becoming inexorable trends.
Vietnam has signed 15 free trade agreements (FTAs) and continues to negotiate new deals with Israel and Canada. It has signed FTAs with all key agro-forestry-fishery export markets; an important factor helping businesses gain a competitive advantage in the global market.
