The use of science and technology and especially artificial intelligence (AI) in public administration will play an important role in dealing with problems in megacities such as Ho Chi Minh City, a conference held in the southern city on December 27 heard.

Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Bui The Duy said technical solutions can also be applied to social issues, helping authorized agencies improve their work performance and creating favorable conditions for people conducting administrative procedures.

He highlighted three fields that need AI to better serve individuals and businesses, including administrative procedures; administrative, urban, and natural resources and environment management; and security and traffic safety management.

Analysts at the meeting discussed policies to encourage information technology businesses to boost their AI research and application and measures to promote connections between State management agencies, universities, and research institutes in terms of AI investment.

Ho Chi Minh City aims to enhance public services, promote administrative reform, and improve its business environment in 2023, with one key task being to boost digital transformation and the application of high technology and AI, according to the Deputy Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee Duong Anh Duc.
