Air passengers up 20% in 9M

Foreign passengers rose by a remarkable 266.8% year-on-year.

Airports around Vietnam catered to 89 million passengers in the first nine months of 2023, a year-on-year increase of 20 per cent, according to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV).

Of this, 23.7 million were international passengers, up 266.8 per cent compared to the same period last year, while domestic passengers were estimated at 65.2 million, down 3.6 per cent.

Vietnamese airlines carried 44.1 million passengers, a year-on-year rise of 20.3 per cent. Of this, 11.5 million were foreign passengers, up 300.2 per cent against 2022.

In the first nine months, the total volume of cargo handled at airports nationwide reached 887,500 tons, a year-on-year decline of 15.3 per cent. Of this, cargo transported by Vietnamese airlines totaled 230,000 tons, up 8.7 per cent year-on-year.
