The US, with a population of over 330 million and huge consumption power, remains Vietnam's largest export market, which leaves ample room for Vietnamese enterprises to boost export of fruits,  according to the Vietnamese Trade Office in the US.

In 2023, the US’s imports of fresh and frozen fruit and vegetable reached $20 billion.

Eight types of Vietnamese fruits have been shipped to the US so far, namely dragon fruit, rambutan, longan, lychee, star apple, mango, pomelo and coconut.

However, Vietnamese agricultural products and lychee still encounter obstacles in accessing the market due to the far geographical distance, and high irradiation and transportation costs.

Besides, fruits and vegetables exported to the US are subject to many regulations and bills.

The Vietnamese Trade Office in the US said the US is a potential market for Vietnamese fruits and vegetable so local businesses need to enhance measures to tackle difficulties to promote exports to this market such as increasing added value for seasonal fruits, applying high technology in preserving fruits, and intensifying product promotion to introduce Vietnamese fruits.
