The People's Committee of northern Bac Ninh province has officially approved a plan to convert all diesel-fueled buses to electric buses by 2030.

This is a breakthrough step, demonstrating the locality's strong commitment to developing green and sustainable transportation.

The conversion plan sets a clear goal: from 2025, 100% of replaced or newly invested buses will use electric power; by 2030, the entire intra-provincial bus system will be fully converted to electric vehicles.

As of January 2025, Bac Ninh has six intra-provincial bus routes with a total of 45 vehicles, all meeting Euro IV emission standards or higher and equipped with modern facilities. However, to achieve the 100% electric vehicle goal, the province plans to increase investment in 72 small electric buses from 2024 to 2030. Given that electric vehicles have a limited operating range of 180 km per full charge per day, a larger number of vehicles will be needed to maintain operating efficiency.

The total resources needed for this transition are estimated at approximately VND73.2 billion (about $2.86 million) over the 2024-2030 period. Funding will be mobilized from the State budget, combined with interest rate support policies and investment from businesses.
