Ben Tre boosting sea-based economy

Xuân Thái -

Province expected to become a growth driver of the Mekong Delta region.

The Mekong Delta’s Ben Tre province will focus on developing coastal infrastructure, logistics infrastructure, and seaports to promote a sea-based economy under its master planning for 2021-2030 with a vision towards 2050, which has been approved by the government.

Focus will be on boosting the development of aquaculture, aquatic product exploitation, fishing ports, coastal industrial parks and clusters, and sea-based tourism.

The province will also promote urban, service, and tourism development, high-tech agriculture, renewable energy, manufacturing and processing, and climate change adaptation.

It will gradually expand development space to the east to attract investors in infrastructure projects and create a coastal economic corridor connecting with key economic zones of the southern region and Ho Chi Minh City.

The province will strive to become a well-developed locality of the country by 2030 with comprehensive socio-economic infrastructure, focusing on sea-based economic development.

By 2050, it is expected to become a growth driver of the Mekong Delta region and Vietnam as a whole.
