Mr. Dale McDowall, Executive Leader, Defense and Aerospace, Singapore and Southeast Asia at Boeing's Defense, Space & Security, announced that Boeing aims to invest in Vietnam and expand cooperation in the defense sector.
Speaking to the press in Hanoi on December 18, he highlighted that, in addition to modern commercial aircraft, Boeing offers helicopters, fighter jets, military aircraft, naval systems, and unmanned aerial vehicle systems.
At the ongoing Vietnam International Defense Exhibition 2024, which opened on December 19, Boeing is showcasing leading military products such as the ScanEagle, the H-47F Chinook Block II helicopter, the MH-139 Grey Wolf, and the Wave Glider unmanned surface vehicle.
Regarding cooperation in the civil aviation sector, Mr. Michael Nguyen, Boeing Vietnam's Director, stated that in nearly 30 years of operation in Vietnam, Boeing has been a partner to the Vietnamese aviation industry, covering both civil and defense aviation.
He affirmed that in 2025, Boeing and US businesses hope to expand cooperation with Vietnam, supporting economic, civil, and defense development.
Boeing is expanding its presence in Vietnam, focusing on strengthening trade relations, developing the aviation supply chain, enhancing professional capabilities, and promoting the aerospace industry.
Regarding plans for sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) production in Southeast Asia, including Vietnam, Boeing representatives stated that Vietnam has great potential for SAF production, particularly with abundant raw materials in the Mekong Delta region.
"Boeing is committed to supporting Vietnam in adopting SAF through joint efforts with the government and investors, ensuring a sustainable and economically efficient green transition," Mr. Nguyen emphasized.
