Public investment disbursement during 2023 is forecast to face pressure with a record figure of over VND756 trillion ($32 billion), excluding remaining capital from the previous year, analysts have said.

Disbursement failed to meet expectations last year, reaching an estimated VND540 trillion ($22.8 billion), or 80.63 per cent of the annual target and 92.97 per cent of the goal set by the Prime Minister, according to the Ministry of Finance (MoF).

Disbursement in January this year reached only 1.72 per cent of the annual plan.

The MoF has asked relevant ministries and agencies to adopt strong and resolute solutions to deal with the shortcomings and difficulties and speed up disbursement from the beginning of the year, especially for key national projects and programs and important infrastructure projects as well as projects using official development assistance (ODA), to create motivation for socio-economic development.
