The closure joint of a projected bridge that connects northern Ninh Binh and Nam Dinh provinces was completed on December 2.
Crossing the Day river, the bridge is part of the Ninh Binh-Nam Dinh-Thai Binh-Hai Phong Expressway.
The four-lane bridge allows for a maximum speed of 100 km/h.
With a total investment of VND1.45 trillion (some $57 million), the bridge spans 2 km, including 1.36 km of the main bridge and 0.64 km of approach roads, connecting Yen Khanh district of Ninh Binh to Nghia Hung district of Nam Dinh.
Mr. Dinh Van Phuong, Director of the Nam Dinh Provincial Investment Construction Project Management Board, stated that the bridge project aims to connect important transportation routes between Ninh Binh and Nam Dinh provinces. This contributes to the gradual completion of the Ninh Binh-Hai Phong expressway, strengthening regional and inter-regional connectivity in the Red River Delta.
Furthermore, the bridge alleviate traffic congestion on existing routes, reduce travel time and stimulate socio-economic development in the region.
