A VND260 billion ($10.59 million ) coffee processing factory was put into operation in Mai Son district in northern Son La province on October 21.

Run by the Son La Coffee Processing JSC, the factory has a capacity of 50,000 tons of fresh coffee berries per year, equivalent to 12,500 tons of coffee beans, and is equipped with a wastewater and solid waste treatment system.

The factory is expected to help improve Son La’s industrial production value and export revenue and create more jobs and higher incomes for local people, contributing to boosting the province’s socio-economic development.

It will also create conditions for coffee farmers, businesses, and cooperatives to sustainably connect the coffee production and sale chain.

The Son La Coffee Processing JSC has signed a contract with the Louis Dreyfus Company Vietnam on the purchase of the factory’s coffee beans. It is forecast to export its first batch of products in January.
