Construction of the Dau Tieng 5 Solar Power Plant officially commenced in southern Tay Ninh Province on August 4, marking another major step in Vietnam's clean energy transition.

The project has a total investment of VND7.774 trillion (approximately $300 million).

Developed by DT5.1 Energy JSC, the project will have a total installed capacity of 450 MW. It is expected to significantly expand Vietnam's renewable energy supply while supporting the country's goals of ensuring energy security and accelerating the shift toward cleaner sources of power.

According to the developer, the solar power plant will be built on approximately 645 hectares of semi-submerged land surrounding Dau Tieng Reservoir, located about 500 meters west of Provincial Road DT781 and approximately 3 km north of the Dau Tieng 1 Solar Power Plant.

Once operational, the facility is expected to generate around 808 GWh of clean electricity annually.

Commercial operation is scheduled to begin in December 2027, making Dau Tieng 5 one of Vietnam's largest new solar energy projects currently under development.
