Construction of the Chon Thanh - Duc Hoa section of the Ho Chi Minh Highway is scheduled to resume in the fourth quarter of this year after being postponed for more than 12 years, according to the Ministry of Transport (MoT).
Total investment is estimated at nearly VND2.3 trillion ($97 million).
Of this, VND264 billion ($11.1 million) will be used for site clearance, compensation, and resettlement, while over VND1.66 trillion ($70 million) will be invested in construction.
The 73-km project will link southern Binh Phuoc province and the Mekong Delta’s Long An province.
Construction is expected to be completed by 2025.
The section was approved by the MoT in late 2007 and has two lanes.
After kicking off in 2009, it was then postponed in 2011 under Government Resolution No. 11/NQ-CP on measures to control inflation and stabilize the macro-economy to ensure social welfare.
