A breaking ground ceremony for the building of infrastructure facilities at Lien Chieu Port in central Da Nang city was held on December 14.

Investment for the 450-ha port will total VND3.4 trillion (over $144.5 million).

Items include dykes and breakwaters, wharves, and technical infrastructure for berthing vessels of up to 100,000 tonnes and container vessels of 6,000-8,000 TEUs.

Attending the ceremony, State President Nguyen Xuan Phuc highlighted the project’s importance, saying it is a vital component of Da Nang Port.

Lien Chieu Port will be a creative breakthrough not only for the transport and logistics sectors but also for tourism and services in Da Nang, he added.
