Construction of the two remaining bidding packages of the cable-stayed Rach Mieu No. 2 Bridge crossing the Tien River and connecting Tien Giang and Ben Tre provinces in the Mekong Delta is expected to get underway in the first quarter after contractors are selected.
The project is divided into six bidding packages, from XL01 to XL06. Construction of XL04, XL05, and XL06 began last August while procedures for XL01 have been completed and it is scheduled to kick-off in February after site clearance is completed.
Total investment is VND5.17 trillion ($221 million), including VND3.2 trillion ($138 million) for construction and VND705 billion ($30.4 million) for site clearance and compensation.
Construction of the final packages is to begin in March and the bridge is expected to open in 2025.
