Construction of Long Thanh airport’s passenger terminal set to begin

Construction of the passenger terminal (Package No. 5.10) and runway at the Long Thanh International Airport project in southern Dong Nai province is scheduled to begin on August 26, according to the Airports Corporation of Vietnam.

Package No. 5.10 - the biggest in the first phase - includes design, construction, and equipment installation at the terminal, with capital estimated at more than VND35 trillion ($1.46 billion).

The terminal is expected to be put into operation in 2026 and be able to cater to 25 million passengers and handle 1.2 million tons of cargo a year.

Construction of the runway (Package No 4.6) is estimated to cost over VND7 trillion ($291 million) and will take 23 months.

Long Thanh International Airport will have total investment of an estimated VND336.63 trillion ($14.6 billion), with construction divided into three phases. Construction of the terminal and the runway is part of the first phase.

Meanwhile, construction of the third terminal at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City is scheduled to kick off on August 31. The terminal is expected to cater to 20 million passengers a year.
