Vietnam’s corporate bond market saw issuances totaling over VND10.7 trillion ($420 million) in May, nearly tripling the figure of the same period last year, according to MB Securities (MBS).
It brings the total value of corporate bond issuances in the first five months of the year to more than VND57.1 trillion ($2.24 billion), a year-on-year rise of 62%.
Real estate sector remained the largest issuer in the 5-month period, with bonds issuance worth VND25.3 trillion ($993 million), up 4% year-on-year and accounting for 44% of the total.
It was followed by the banking sector with a total issuance value of VND19.9 trillion ($781 million), accounting for 35% of the total.
The value of real estate corporate bonds maturing in the second quarter is estimated at VND72 trillion ($2.8 billion).
Meanwhile, during the five-month period, the State Treasury raised over VND23 trillion ($905 million) in government bonds.
