Vietnam’s consumer price index (CPI) rose 3.25 per cent year-on-year in 2023, within the target set by the National Assembly (NA), figures from the General Statistics Office (GSO) show.
The rate was attributed to higher education-related prices, which rose 7.44 per cent and contributed 0.46 percentage points. A 6.58 per cent rise in the price of housing and construction materials contributed 1.24 percentage points, while an increase of 6.85 per cent in food contributed 0.25 percentage points.
December’s CPI increased 3.58 per cent year-on-year, with a fourth-quarter rate of 3.54 per cent.
Core inflation in December was 0.17 per cent month-on-month and 2.98 per cent year-on-year, leading to annual growth of 4.16 per cent.
The domestic gold price increased 3.98 per cent in December against November and 13.13 per cent year-on-year, contributing to annual growth of 4.16 per cent.
