Da Nang International Airport in central Da Nang City will have its capacity doubled to 20 million passengers per year during the 2021–30 period, under a master plan for the upgrade of the airport which has been released by the municipal authorities.

The airport is planned to meet International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) Category 4E standards, capable of accommodating modern wide-body aircraft such as Boeing 747, Boeing 787, Airbus A350, and equivalent aircraft types.

It is also capable of handling 100,000 tons of cargo annually.

By 2050, the airport will maintain its 4E rating and passenger capacity of roughly 20 million annually, while cargo volume is set to climb to about 330,000 tons per year.
