Under a recent Prime Ministerial Decision, Deputy Prime Minister Pham Thi Thanh Tra has been assigned as Head of the Central Steering Committee for Food Safety, according to a report from the Government News.
Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan, Minister of Agriculture and Environment Trinh Viet Hung, and Minister of Industry and Trade Le Manh Hung will serve as deputy heads of the Committee.
The Central Steering Committee for Food Safety is tasked with studying, advising, recommending, and proposing to the Prime Minister major directions and solutions to address important inter-sectoral issues related to food safety.
The Committee is also responsible for promptly proposing measures to the Prime Minister to handle complicated food safety incidents that may affect public health on a large scale.
In addition, it will assist the Prime Minister in directing and coordinating ministries, ministerial-level agencies, Government-attached agencies, and relevant organizations in addressing key inter-sectoral food safety issues.
