Revenue in the information and communications technology (ICT) industry reached nearly $98 billion in the first nine months of this year. It has been forecast that revenue for the year as a whole may reach the target of being 2-3 times higher than Vietnam’s GDP growth.

The pandemic created unprecedented difficulties for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) around Vietnam but also encouraged them to move forward with implementing digital transformation. This now represents an opportunity for businesses to progress further, experts and business insiders told the recent “Post-crisis innovation - Breakthrough opportunities for SMEs” online discussion.

The number of mobile phone subscriptions in Vietnam as of the third quarter of 2021 stood at 123 million, up 0.88 per cent over the same period last year. Of these, the number of smartphone subscribers was 90.3 million, or 73.4 per cent of the total, up 9.03 per cent year-on-year.

The Ministry of Information and Communications has selected 12 typical Make in Vietnam technology products and solutions to introduce in the Vietnam National Pavilion at ITU Digital World 2021. Among these are three solutions from the FPT Corporation.

Vietnam is not only a strong market for games but also has a strong production outlook, where domestic game studios exhibit major potential. The real opportunity for Vietnamese games lies in changing the way of thinking about the open in-game economy that blockchain can create.

The Law on Telecommunications needs to be amended to develop telecommunications infrastructure, expand the space for telecommunications businesses to develop, and promote telecommunications infrastructure to assist the digital economy and digital society, according to the Ministry of Information and Communications.
