The selling price of SJC-branded gold bars in the domestic market soared to a new record of VND141.9 million ($5,379) per tael on October 8, up VND1.3 million ($49.2) from the previous day.
One tael is equivalent to 37.5 grams, or 1.2 ounces.
Meanwhile, the selling price of plain gold rings also climbed to VND139.1 million ($5,272) per tael, rising VND1.4 million ($53) from a day earlier.
On the global market, gold prices increased 1.23% to $4,034.5 per ounce. At this rate, domestic gold prices in Vietnam were about VND12.23 million ($463) per tael higher than international prices.
