The Ministry of Finance is collecting comments on a draft decree on extending the deadline for the payment of value added tax, personal income tax, and land and water surface rental fees in 2023.

Regarding value added tax, the ministry proposes that the deadline for the payment of value-added tax payable from January to May and in the first quarter should be extended by six months. The deadline for the payment of value-added tax payable in June and the second quarter should be extended by five months. The total subject to extensions during the period is estimated at VND64-65 trillion ($2.71-2.75 billion).

For corporate income tax, the ministry proposes a three-month extension for the payment of corporate income tax payable in the first and second quarters of 2023. It is estimated that the amount subject to extension is about VND42.8-43.6 trillion ($1.81-1.84 million).

To remove obstacles facing business households and individuals, the ministry also proposes extending the payment deadline of value-added tax and personal income tax for business households and individuals. These taxpayers will pay no later than December 30, 2023.

For land rental fee, the ministry proposes that the payment of 50 per cent of total land rent payable in 2023 be extended by six months from May 31 to November 30, 2023. The amount totals about VND3.5 trillion ($148 million).
