Construction of the first contract package of the Ben Thanh - Tham Luong Metro Line No. 2 in Ho Chi Minh City kicked off on June 22, according to the Management Authority for Urban Railways of Ho Chi Minh City (MAUR).
The package will relocate technical infrastructure works, including electricity, water supply, and drainage, to hand over clean land to the main project contractor in 2025.
Implementation of the package is estimated to cost VND1 trillion ($42.1 million).
Metro Line No. 2 connects Ben Thanh Market in District 1 and Tham Luong Depot in District 12.
Running through Districts 1, 3, 10, 12, Tan Binh, and Tan Phu, the line has a total length of 11.3 km, including a 2-km elevated section and a 9.3-km underground section. It has eleven stations, including nine underground, one elevated, and one depot.
The project is estimated to cost VND47.9 trillion ($2.02 billion), sourced from official development assistance (ODA) funds and reciprocal capital from the city.
